Slowly Getting Stronger....

Tonight I went to practice massaging one of my friends. That was pretty rough. I was able to last 30 mins before my arms were done. It was good to be back at Massage Envy and see some of my friends. I miss them. I'm getting better at physical therapy. Doing the arm bike has gotten a lot easier. The body blade and the stick with the weight attached to it are still kind of hard to do. I think doing the DDP Yoga with Troy has really been helping with some of the pain. My low back and glute muscles are still pretty tight.
Also, test results for Troy are in. High cholesterol and pre-diabetic. My results were perfect. So we made some pretty big changes to our diet. Got rid of all our candy and sweets. Cake mixes, brownie mixes and much more that we don't want to eat anymore. It was a good starting place but know we are stuck as to where to go. We need to eat foods with low sugar and low sodium. Any tips? I've been reading my moms Dukan Diet book. Pretty interesting. But we are trying to come up with a list of foods that we can eat and things we should limit. Obviously if something isn't on either of those lists, we aren't going to be eating it. So if anyone has any tips, it would be greatly appreciated!

Let's Begin!

Look what arrived today!!!!
I am so excited! Troy and I took all of our measurements and did the first session where we learn all the moves / stances we will need to know. Troy said, "I thought yoga was just a bunch of stretching." Yeah, even though we were just learning the moves, we got in a good mini work-out. So excited to officially start tomorrow! So glad Troy is doing this with me!

And The Results Are In...

At the beginning of this week I had an MRI done on my neck. On New Year's Eve I had one done on my low back. All my doctor said was I had some arthritis going on in both areas. Luckily, I am going to see a back specialist on the 26th. He is going to take a look at both MRIs and see if he sees something else. Today was pretty painful. Not really my low back from yesterday, but mostly from my waist down. As I was standing, my legs would start to go numb. And my knees keep wanting to lock and not bend. I'm very tired of getting in and out of the car from taking kids to and from school. So I'm glad we have nothing to do the next 3 days!!!

Physical Therapy

I had physical therapy. I go every Tuesday and Thursday. Today Holly decided to do something different from just regular massage. She wanted to do a cupping method. You use suction cups similar to these....
You suction them onto the body and move them around. It helps release the fascia, increase circulation and lymph flow. So it helps break up stagnate blood. Oh and helps relax muscles. Unfortunately, this is what I was left with....
Atleast it doesn't hurt. During it was pretty tender. I just hope it goes away soon..... Not likely. But I can always hope, wish, dream and cross my fingers... Right?

Reality Check

I talked to my boss this morning. We talked about my physical therapy and other issues that have come up. It was a hard talk. It was just hard to actually agree that I will not be back to work anytime soon. Even though I didn't get seriously injured in the accident, something serious happened. My boss is wonderful though! She said they will always have a place for me. She said some of my clients refuse to go to other therapists and told me how loved I am. Now don't get me wrong. I am absolutely loving my time at home with my family. I love that we get to have dinner together each night and that I get to tuck my kids into bed. But I really miss working. I miss my coworkers and my clients. I miss massaging and seeing how I was able to help my clients. Someday. Someday I hope to be back!

Sympathy Not Wanted

sympathy

n.noun

  1. A feeling of pity or sorrow for the distress of another; commiseration.

Yeah. Not wanting it. I know people aren't meaning any harm, but it isn't doing any good either. I know what situation I am in. I know how how much pain I'm in. I understand I know I can't work right now. Oh, I also know how much it sucks that I can't do what I went to school for and what I am passionate about. I'm not putting my pain out there in search of sympathy.
It has just been a day full of realistic thought and questions as to what am I going to do. I just don't know. At this point I just want to be in atleast less pain, if not pain-free. I am so tired. I'm tired of saying how much pain in in. I'm tired of crying myself to sleep.

Sleeping With One Eye Open

So since Friends was added to Netflix, Troy has been an trooper and let's me watch it every night before we go to bed. Such a wonderful man! I think I started to fall asleep during the episode where they go to the beach and Monica gets stung by the jelly fish. He he!! I really don't feel like my body can be going as much as it did before the accident. It makes me very nervous for my job. I just don't know what is going to happen. But I'm excited to see how DDP Yoga can help Troy and I.
Today I got my first pair of leggings. They have the denim look, so I guess they are jeggings? Anyways. They make a couple of my shirts look a lot better than they did with pants.so that made dealing with Wal-mart crowds worth it for today.... Not really.
